East Bugs are more commonly referred to as house centipedes. At Brandeis University, the name "East Bugs" arose to refer to them due to the fact that they are especially prevalent in East Quad, especially on the lower floors.

East Bugs feed on other insects, such as cockroaches, and presumably even ants, both of which are also common pests in East Quad.
